Pet Stop, the fastest growing professionally installed dog fence brand, has introduced GentleSteps, the perfect marriage of soft touch training methods and the latest product technology that quickly and easily introduces pets to their new pet fencing system.

Morgantown, PA. April 23, 2008 — Keeping pets safe in the yard and away from danger doesn’t have to be difficult or stressful. All dog fence systems rely on a special training collar that emits a brief and harmless static correction as a deterrent to leaving the safety of the yard which may be stressful for some animals, particularly shy and sensitive pets. To reduce the stress associated with introducing pets to their new fence, Pet Stop Pet Fence Systems has introduced the new GentleSteps training method. GentleSteps training is the perfect marriage of product technology and the latest soft touch training method to quickly and easily familiarize dogs with their new fencing system. GentleSteps training is the modern and incremental training program that reduces problems more commonly associated with traditional containment training by using barely perceptible levels of collar stimulation, just a tickle, during the critical training phase.

While it is undeniable that many individuals have contributed to the development of this unique training protocol, the behavior expert most credited with this revolutionary low stress training technique is professional trainer and Pet Stop dealer Rich Weinssen of Hidden Fence of New Jersey. As a founding member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, Mr. Weinssen believes in a humane approach to pet training and saw the opportunity to develop a low stress approach by using a slow and gradual increase in correction, supplemented by frequent training sessions.

The new Pet Stop system has literally thousands of personalized adjustments, including the ultra-low levels needed for GentleSteps training. This exclusive programming capability enables Pet Stop professionals to teach pets their new boundaries quickly and most important – happily.

“I’m really surprised it took the industry this long to adopt a standardized training protocol that ensures both the pet’s safety and happiness,” Said Blaine Bacher, V.P. of Sales for Pet Stop. “GentleSteps training makes the process easier and more fun for the family too.”

After pets are safe and comfortable behind their new fence, higher levels can be used to help even the most committed escape artist to resist the many natural distractions that might jeopardize their safety such as squirrels, bikes or speeding cars.

Training is fun with Pet Stop

Training Your Pet the Pet Stop Way

Good pet training is absolutely critical. That’s why all Pet Stop dealers employ the most advanced, up-to-date behavioral methods and apply them to match each pet’s unique personality.

Our pet-friendly dealers will carry out the initial training phase with you and your pet utilizing various training techniques designed to teach your pet their new boundaries. Based on their reaction to this training, your dealer will then decide when it is best to initiate their first correction. When handled properly, pets take to the training easily, often experiencing the correction only once or twice and quickly learning to respond to the warning tone.

Pet Stop Paw Print - Dog Fence TrainingAfter you and your dog receive training from your dealer, you will begin the phase of reinforcement training – a self-initiated program following the instructions your dealer prescribes. Some Pet Stop dealers offer additional training for an added fee.

The program is organized into short, daily sessions lasting for approximately two weeks. While most pets immediately take to the training and learn to respect the boundary, others may require additional conditioning. Your dealer stands ready to assist you if you’re having difficulty with the training program – it’s what they’re trained to do – and they’re always ready to help or lend advice when necessary.

After the training program is successfully accomplished, your pet will be free to roam and play within the safety of their new Pet Stop electronic fence system, enjoying a new kind of freedom they’ve never had before.
